RTS optimising

Do RTS's require different hardware balancing than FPS's?
(RAM speed, processor, graphics card balance?)
Looking to get a new machine and I mainly play RTS's...and the Total War: Warhammer is incoming!

A lot can be CPU bound so start there if I were you - especially if you plan on playing Ashes of the Singularity
