RTX 3060 stopped working after holiday

Trying to help my brother out.

He's just come back from holiday and his Nvidia RTX 3060 is reporting a problem.
Windows is saying.
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

I uninstalled and reinstalled the Nvidia drivers, but the problem is still there.

Is there anything else I can try?

Where did he go on holiday? That might help with the diagnosis.

I'm going to presume he powered off his computer while away? I did the same years ago and when I switched it on after 2 weeks of no power the PSU exploded!

What happens is the capacitors on the components dry out; some short circuit like in my case or they just don't perform like they should. If possible I'd try the card in another computer and a different card in his pc (to check the PSU).

2 weeks is not enough to dry out capacitors otherwise they all be popping after coming out the warehouse

Is there anything else I can try?

Maybe reseating the GPU will work.

Tried seating it, didn't work.
Tried swapping mine and bro's GPU around and his GPU didn't work in my machine.
So looks like it's buggered.
