Well, this is madness.
So I am the proud owner of the new ASUS Tuf A15, the 5800H, RTX 3070, 16g of 3200 with the 240hz screen.
Stock specs of the RTX claim a ROG(turbo clock) of about 1510mz. Which for the price of the laptop is a little underwhelming. So I used afterburner to give a little more boost, saw about 1600mhz, even touch 1700, but was on the 100% use and 95w draw limit, tempt went up to 70c+ and the clock got lowered from thermals.
Bah, I say to myself, that's a lot of power draw for not a lot of performance. I alter the curve, drop the curve to a max of 1850mhz, think it will never get that high, but I shall see what happens when I drop its peak draw this way. I also introduce an fps limit of 100fps because tbh although my screen does 240hz, I can hardly justify such a rate for playing the odd game. Also, the screen is FHD, so the resolution is staying at that maxed.
Load up FEAR 3 again. FR locked at 100, Boom core clock goes to 1860Mhz and sits there, temps touch 70c MAX, it's only using 50% of the chip and drawing 75w max... Is that acceptable... I mean nothing crashed but it wasn't taxed to 100%
