Hi guys

Recently switched from a GTX 1080 to RTX 3080

struggling with poor performance playing warzone. 4k is smooth but around 50-60fps with occasional stutters
1440 is dreadful, terrible stutter and FPS considering the GPU

I was hoping to play 1440 at 120fps. Any ideas what's going on?

Intel i7-6700 CPU
16Gb DDR4 2300ish RAM
Gigabyte h170 motherboard
Corsair SF600W PSU (I am actually replacing this just in case with a Corsair 750W)

Your ram is pretty slow there, so getting something faster may help.

However there are some serious issues in general with Warzone and the 30 series cards. It's likely the game and hopefully will get fixed with driver and game updates. I'm have similar issues but getting around 120-30 FPS.

The card is capable of around 170 so hope to get to that level one day.

That CPU/RAM you got is pretty dated, a relative that has a 1080Ti just upgraded from a 6500 to a 5600x (+B550M S2H +3200Mhz RAM) for less than £450, saw major performance improvements especially in FS2020/X-Plane which are CPU limited.

See here 3500x (~12% faster than your 6700) vs 5600x:

i know from what i have seen going from 3200 to 4000Mhz ram at the same timing increased FPS by 80-100 on i7 10900k

Have switched to 5600x and 3600mhz RAM.
The 3080 was definitely being bottle necked, night and day difference...

Agreed. If you had the k version you may have gotten away with it with some OCing. But the non k doesn’t overclock so it was likely struggling to keep up at stock clocks, especially coupled with pretty slow memory.

Nice to see the upgrade has made the difference. Ryzen is now good for gaming too so should last you a pretty long while!
