Rtx 3090 hdmi socket seems too shallow.

fine here on 3090 + lg cx (lastest formware on both)
Don't doubt it, seems to affect some, not others. No evident rhyme or rhythm to it (well only C9 people I seen it happen to thus far)
you have a CX so would not compare. That said your message did prompt me to double check, can see one newer firmware is out for the C9 so may try that. Don’t expect it will help though given prior firmware came out only last month after fixing some ampere specific issues.
I’ve got latest firmware for C9 05.00.03. My replacement 3090 is due for delivery tomorrow so I’m hoping this will fix the handshake issue with the C9 but I’m doubtful as I think it’s on LG’s end.

Look if the worst comes to the worst and they say you broke it then you are down one port. You have others. It's a bum but it's not the end of the world.
Yeah that's firmware I had. Following the post above about firmware on the C9, updated to 05.00.10 and no change. Do suspect as you say odd C9 quirk / handshake issue for some.
