Rtx 3090

Buy an AMD card for the CPU / GPU SAM feature etc, reference 6800/6800XT release tomorrow, the 6900XT reference in a week or 2, and between them the Partner 6800/6800XTs release.

Rumors are they will also make partner 6900s as sell

IMO

While they are the best in the Nvidia stack, a 3080 is far better value for money, the 3090 is far less worth it than launch with rumours of the 3080ti circulating.

The more you can throw at VR, the better your experience. Couple the most demanding simulation titles with the highest resolution hmd, and yes the 3090 is worth it.

The sensible thing to do is wait and see how the 6800XT / 6900 performs, i am not sensible so i bought a 3090 and paid more than i should but i got a card that performs well at 4K.

Hardware unboxed seem to think availability of the 6800/ XT wont be great on release but surely AMD can't do as bad a job as Nvidia have.

The 6800XT is beating the 3090 at 1440p/1080p according to a reliable reviewer. Wait for tomorrow as it doesn't seem like even the 3080 Ti will solve NVIDIA's problems. AMD is going to massacre them tomorrow.

The 3090 is NOT a gamers card despite the advertising. Sure, you can use it for gaming but you are wasting a lot of money. If you don't care about money then go ahead! But otherwise get a 3080.

Don't really think there a chance of getting a 3080

apply that logic to any card that costs north of £500 right now. My point about not for everyone is that the 3090 is better suited for work than games and in games it's a £600+ extra cost for marginal frames. Go have a look at benchmarks.

Good thing I play at 4k 120 then ;p

1080p is for peasants

If you have money to burn and you want the absolute best and more Vram than you could ever need then yeah sure.

AMD will release tomorrow so see what that brings to the table but with the Shared access memory when used in conjunction with a 5000 series cpu you could get a few extra % in FPS.

Last i heard Nvidia is also implementing a similar system into their 3000 series so we could see that come to the 3070/80/90 etc in the next few months.
