RTX3080Ti on my present system?

I did think about a MB,CPU,Ram upgrade bundle plus a new GPU. Maybe I could just get away with just a Graphics Card upgrade only? When the new RTX3xxx cards come out, could I upgrade 'lets say' to a RTX3080Ti on my present system? How would my system cope with such a powerful GPU? Why the power? Because I would like to play MS FS2020 on VR, probably on the upcoming HP Reverb G2. The Reverb may be OK on my GTX980Ti but would only run half resolution 1080x1080. HP have already told me that. My present Oculus Rift VR is very smooth with my 980Ti.

From the cpu scaling chart for fs2020 on guru3d it looks like you'd still get a lot of benefit, but it's just one small chart with no analysis.
