I've got the chance to pickup some Ruark Prologue II floor standing speakers from a friend who's owned them from new.

He's asking £200 for them which I believe is a good price but I'm not sure if I should just invest in some new speakers as my budget is up to £400 for the upgrade.

I've listened to the Ruarks and think they sound really good but his system is a multi amp'd Musical Fidelity setup where as I'm using a NAD C355 BEE single amplifier.

I'm going to ask if I can demo them but I'd appreciate any input from those that have experience with Ruarks.

I used to have a pair of these, they do benefit greatly from good amplification, but what's to lose even if you didn't like them you could easily shift them for what you paid.

If you don't want them tell him to drop me a line. :p

Hmmm.... it's a tough choice

Brilliant speakers for half your budget, and that will see easily you through several upgrades of far more expensive front end gear.......

... or new £400 speakers that won't be as good

Oh no! If only the choice was clear.... better speakers for half the price... or worse speakers for double the amount.....God I can't decide...... better speaker + £200 in the beer fund... or £400 speakers, not as good and no beer..... Oh help someone...... ;)
