Just a quick question about installing these mounts really. Just so you know what I mean:

Perhaps I am doing something wrong but I find when using them it really really really hurts my finger to get them in place - is there some special technique? lol. At the moment I am just pulling them through from the outside of my case to the inside (via the gap in the fan screw hole bit with my fingers and it makes my nail hurt real bad :( I have another 6 to do so any advice or technique would be appreciated.

once they've through the hole in the case, the hardest part is usually getting that 'notch' into the fan's screw hole.

these were by far the best mounts i've used. Previous sets with my Antec Sonata and another set from off the highstreet were a nightmare! damn things refused to fall into place no matter how hard I pulled

get the mount as far into the fan as possible, i got most of mine in just by using hand force and pulling.

for the tougher ones i used a pair of small pliers - with one hand stretch the mount as much as poss then with the other use the pliers to grip the mount as close to the fan's 'exit hole' as possible and pull with the pliers.

mind you don't lose your grip, else your hand/pliers might go flying into nearby components :p

Haha, thanks - used some small pliers on my swiss army knife! I think I pulled a bit to hard on one as its made a tear on the mount near the end, ah well. The only problem I have now is that my exaust fan has 2 mounts which are very hard to get to as the CPU fan (some 120mm zalman thing) is blocking the way, and I cant get me pliers down their either unless I remove my graphics card and PSU :(

I think I might just leave those ones with screws in lol :(

Thanks for you replies though :)

<edit> I have attempted tieing a piece of string around the end and trying to pass that through the hole which works, but the not either comes undone or slips off - just ripped the end bit off with a bit of string oops! :(

That is a good idea, but what if you want to change case / change fans? Not all fans come with more fan mounts :/

Push them through the fans first and then pull them through the fan holes so that they're sticking out on the outside of the case. Why would you want to cut them off

Also if they start hurting your fingers why not try heat them to make them softer. Also when pulling them through, pull them through from side to side, it helps a little.

I dont think I would have cut them off anyway as the back of my case has a mirror finish and I would end up scratching it lol. I have already fitted the intake my retarded way (rated R for retarded  ) but I will fit the exaust the easier way when I next turn my PC off. It did not occure to me to fit them that way at all, perhaps because I thought the ends of the mounts look quite nice flat against my case :S

Yeh i would have preferred them being flat on the outside but it's just so much easier to fit the fans like this. I have 2x120mm fans at the back of my case. With all of the fan mounts sticking out, the back of my case now feels like cows udders :p

Interesting...I've always had the long end facing inwards, and always complained about it being a real pain to get on.
