Guy over the road has a Merc SLK ? (V6) in to spray with that rubber coating - Now why would someone do that.

Seems owner had a falling out with girl friend and she screw drivered it on every panel -deep to the metal - The car is 10 years old and full spray was around 4k

So it's getting rubber coated - I am impressed with sound though - My Mazda V6 didn't sound anything like this Merc.

I had a sit in drivers seat and I certainly won't buy one if I win lotto - even with seat adjusted to full height I could just about see over steering wheel and touch pedals .

how tall arent you ? my mum had an older one kompressor one and now has an amg bodykitted twin turbo diesel one and she can see over the wheel and touch pedals fine.

i guess the point im making is that she is about 5ft1

and then you also answer your first line with your second line :p

If you win the lotto you can get buttock implants, should fix that problem.

£4k to plastidip a car!? That's not right. You could get a proper respray for that.

I think he meant a full respray was 4K so he's getting the plastidip as it's cheaper.

Yeah 4k is a bit excessive :p

Theres a few slightly different rubber style products plastidip being one of the more popular DIY products. DYC.com has a loada info on it and some pretty good videos on their youtube channel.

I've actually just taken delivery of my spray gun and me and a friend are gonna have a play about with some PD :)

I could understand it if it was actually proper 'rubber' gloss paint, as in the same stuff the RAF use on aircraft - Those get dings and scrapes all the time, from thing in the air and on the ground, yet never so much as a scuff... unless it goes so deep as to rip open the panel itself, in which case paint is a moot point.
We once got our parade boots painted with that stuff and enjoyed decades or perpetual full-on mirror shine that withstood people stomping on them.
It's also very expensive.

However, if it actually IS plastikote or similar, that's just gonna look naff without it being properly sprayed on... which would probably cost the same for the sprayer to do with the proper paint anyway, no?

Why is he not pressing charges?!?!

Not my business - The car has sat in his garage for 12 month's.

This is spray on Plastidip so I gather in gloss not matt- Will see if can get a picture tomorrow of before and after - he has spent three days sanding -filling and undercoating so should be soon with spraying.

5ft 6" - I felt totally enclosed in it - will buy the big van thing instead ;)
