Someone has put a Rubik Cube on my desk and its driving me insane. Can anyone suggest a solution other than taking apart or removing stickers?

I have googled it but that didnt help much.

Thanks

The middle square on each side doesn't actually move, so the side with the red square in the middle is the red side, the side with the white square is the white side...

I had one for Christmas... It was a step by step guide.. There are 7 stages and I've completed four.. Which is two layers.. the trouble is it's taken me ages to get that far .. and i'm frightened of making any changes that will mess things up.. so I sit there.. looking at it.. it drives me nuts!!!

damn rubiks cubes..

Yup I can do it. Usually takes me just over a minute but I can break a minute if I've had practice.

In fact I can usually solve it properly quicker than most people could either remove the stickers or pull it apart and rebuild it

Just look for some speedcubing videos if you want to see freaks. I've got nothing on those guys.

Same here. Funny thing is that I don't really remember consciously how to do it; it's "muscle memory" from when I used to do it 20+ years ago.

As long as it's a reasonably maintained cube, anyhow. Sometimes you get one that's been stuck gathering dust and gunk for 20 years and solving it is a better workout than a Powerball!

After getting fed up with the one sitting around at home I googled it and managed to work out how to do it from the instructions in an hour or so, it's not especially tricky if you've got the instructions and a bit of time!

The Rubiks Cube has always baffled me - I'm sure one day I'll take the time to figure it properly. I can, however, do the Rubiks Clock in under thirty seconds.

Me too, the Cube is a black art to me, although this post...

...has given me a eureka moment.

edit: actually I don't think that helps at all :(

20+ years ago my average was ~26 seconds to solve a cube. :p

Never fully solved a 4x4x4 cube though.

Rubik's cube is easy. Get a revenge off ebay or the professors cube, now *thats* a challenge.

:D

Easy peasy, unless as stated it's a badly maintained one or a cheap version, in which case I usually end up with an minor explosion of cube parts scattering in all directions, I was pretty damn quick at re-assembling them too :)
