Morning all,

Just wondering, currently in my car I only have 1 amp running, however my plan is that i have my other amp that is sat under my bed to be connected up also.

I plan on having 1 amp running my sub, and 1 running 4 speakers in the car.

My question is: When connecting the second amp, can i just connect power leads to the existing amp or do i need to run a totally new set of cables through the car?

Also i am getting quite a lot of 'white noise' when there is no music coming though. Is this something to do with a bad earth?

Thanks

Edit: Just to add, i have power and speaker wires running 2 different sides of the car.

Cables?

You haven't run the neg all the way back to the battery have you?

Why two? is one not loud enough?[/QU

Why not? Its just sat under my bed doing nothing!

Negative is connected to the chassis, so not ran it to the battery!

Just cracking on with my carpc so please keep to the topic in mind, how would i connect?

Thanks

Well, what is the fuse on the positive lead rated for, and what are the amps rated at?

If you are going to be near the blowing point of the fuse (on peak) then you'll need another positive line, if not, then powering it piggybacked off the first amp will be fine.

I guess I was trying to ask is it going to be a throbbing chav wagon or something with some taste?

yes, get a distribution block/fuse holder with 2 outputs...

noise is most likely a bad earth or whine caused by the altenator but since you've run the cables down dif sides of car it cant be that. what have you connected the earth to?

"I plan on having 1 amp running my sub, and 1 running 4 speakers in the car"

didnt that explain it? lol

Sorry, no its not going to be a banging chav wagon, I am building a carpc in my car, will have photos of progress later on, assure you its not a chav wagin though :P

As long as the main power cable and fuse combo can take the amp draw from both amps then attach a distribution / fuse block to the end of the power cable and run two lots of cables from there, fused separately.
