Could the PlayStation 3 be getting last-gen's rumble functionality before the end of the year? According to the rumors section in the latest issue of PSM, the answer might be yes. The magazine even gets into specifics, saying that the Sixaxis rumble controller will be announced at E3 this year with a projected release date of November 13th. Seems sort of odd that a rumor would have such a concrete date attached to it, doesn't it? Sounds more like someone either a) has a big mouth or b) enjoys playing games with magazine editors. Word is that Kojima wanted rumble included, and considering the importance of MGS 4 to the PS3 platform, Sony listened.

I've really got my fingers crossed for 'a'. I never noticed how much rumble meant to me until it was gone. I don't particularly like the idea of paying for something the system should have come with in the first place, but sometimes that's just the way the cookie rumbles.

i can see them releasing it as soon as they run out of stock of the old pads

optional weights included to please 360 owners and there love for holding heavy things

This is gonna be like PS1 again. It existed for about 2 yrs with a normal joypad, then when Gran Turismo came out they released the dualshock with it. Then after that 2 controllers existed for the rest of the consoles life.

Wonder whcih game will be released to coincide with this. I think GTAIV is released around the time of this rumoured rumble joypad?

I can live with out the rumble. The rumble will drain the battery power like no other. Might as well keep the short cable connected to the controller all the time.

What makes you think that? the 360 pads manage it fine

I haven't missed it all really. Found it a bit annoying at times.

Force feedback is often used poorly. The thing is though it can be used really well and it's shocking that the Sixaxis doesn't have it included. Still that will be corrected by the end of the year.

Why do you think that? The 360 controller goes for around 25 hours with force feedback and even the Wii remote lasts for around 15 hours which isn't bad really. If Sony can get around 20 hours out of a controller with force feedback I'd be happy. The Wavebird was the ultimate having around 100 hours of battery life although I'd have gladly traded some of that battery life to have force feedback in the controller.

I personally hope they make a new controller altogether. The sixaxis is distinctly last-gen - they could've at least put a chrome trim on it to match the console. If they do make a new controller I hope it's more ergonomic, and have a better build quality - it's much to weak right now.

And of course, I want rumble back :) Along with more weight... holding a gun in COD and RFOM feels so fake right now
