I'm an long-time ATI user and it always bugged the hell out of me when games were tailored to Nvidia cards. However, I don't agree with this either. All it does is alienate one half of a gaming community.

More than just half, only those with a 6000 series card can play with all the features enabled. Proprietary technology, such as PhysX, is one of the bad things with computer games unfortunately.

well i support this :) nvidia has done the same to many games such as crysis. cant wait for the witcher 2

Eye-for-an-eye eh? All that will do is perpetuate a war of escalation. How long before there are games that will only run on one brand of card? (A slight exagerration on my part perhaps)

The entire article is two sentences, and the first sentence begins: "According to some unconfirmed rumors".

According to some unconfirmed rumours, Valve are working on taking over the DNF project and are looking at a Q1 2011 release.

hmmm... maybe your right. but then a lot of people will upgrade to 6000 series. If nvidia bring out their next range at the same time im sure witcher 2 will support them as well.

Sounds like tripe to me. I highly doubt there will be anything new with the 6000 series apart from better tesselation performance and probably more shaders/faster clock speeds. To do anymore than that, requires a different dx11 level. A game company having some optimisations for a card is usually crap anyway as the card makers always include such optimisations with their drivers anyway.

so what are these "exclusive features" only the 6000 can aparently do?

or it is just the game locking out features if it detects you dont have this card

I don't. This was one of the many reasons I turned my back on Nvidia after many years with them. Interested to see what these features are though. Perhaps features that no other card can do anyway?

It has been a while since the last major release. Who knows what they have been upto? ATI graphics card have seen a huge improvement all round since AMD's takeover.

just lol... some ATI fanboy hurting and sounding off about all the inadequacies in the 5 series tbh... no one really notices the problems with AF when actually playing, tessellation is tessellation it would be beyond madness for ATI to create a propriatory implementation now with a generic DX11 path already a standard... the rest aren't exactly "exclusive features" but just ATI fixing/polishing up things that should already be done in 5 series.

Trust me, every graphics card release in history has had such a massive talk up about it before and then when it finally comes out everyone realises its just % faster than the last top end cards
