The boys were taking part in RuneScape, a medieval fantasy game which has more than 100million players worldwide.

I love the Daily Fail and how it over-exagerates every little piece of information. Nothing stops the Fail from blowing up every little bit of information into a drama! I love it

This video is quite a few months old, (https://channelsun.sun.com/media/show/12716) at 16.25 onwards Mark Gerhard CEO of Jagex states there are 10million active players, 175million accounts, im guessing there are quite a few more now.

Edit: Regarding the story i think it's great that they are making a stand on these hackers and phishing sites. Although the summary of RS is ridiculous, for starters the cheapest method of payment isnt £5 a month.

I guess it all depends on the wording... as far as I know WoW is the biggest in terms of paying subscriptions. However there are several free to play ones out which have more accounts. Presumably due to the fact that its free and anyone can make an account which as there is no subscription then technically is always an "active" account.

Runescape is a highly successful British MMO so grats them on that, I never played it and have no interest in playing it either.

WoW has nowhere near 10,000,000 subs either. I'd guestimate 70% of the players are Asians on pay per hour / Internet Cafe type subscriptions.

loved runescape to bits as a kid. They ruined it though so i stoped playing, no idea what its like now. Can quite easily beleive there is more accounts then wow, as for p2p accounts im not so sure. Probably close but doubt beating wow.

It has 12 million active subscribers, 2 million over what you've said. Did you pull that 70% figure out of nowhere too?

I never played WoW, and only played runescape as a kid.
