Hey all,

I currently have a monitor I use for my PC that connects via DisplayPort. I also have a TV connected to the PC through HDMI.

What I would like to do is have Windows regard each monitor as a separate desktop or space, with its own audio source.

My current setup has Windows extend the display over two monitors. So if I want Spotify to display on my TV, I just launch Spotify, and drag it over to the TV display.

Currently, this poses a problem where I need to swap Playback Devices setting so that the audio comes out of the TV, as opposed to the PC Speakers.

Is there a way to have Windows separate both monitors as two separate desktops?

Thanks,
Marky

Dont' think you can have two desktops each with their own sound device; but can run 2 audio devices, if the app allows you to specifys its audio device, I have run asio driver from vlc to external soundcard and windows sound via laptop internal realtek sound card simultaneously.

While researching this, I've found a feature I didn't even know existed :p

Windows Key + Tab = Virtual Desktops

It would be perfect if I could have 2 Virtual Desktops, one on one screen and one on the other...

Windows is already treating both monitors as seperate desktops. The main issue is Windows natively does not assign speakers to certain desktops, which is what you're after.

AMD has Discrete Digital Multi-Point Audio which does this but I've not really seen it in action so no idea if it works.

Some apps can let you choose what audio output to use so might be worth checking the settings. Spotify doesn't allow this and it has been requested for a long while: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Allow-user-to-select-default-sound-device/idi-p/5351
