Hey all.

I've googled this a bit with mixed results so just want to clarify what the results would be.

I've recently had a baby so I had to surrender my man cave. I've got a LG 21:9 29inch monitor which was great when I had a desk but now I've got a makeshift "area" under the stairs.

I mostly play games now with a home made lapboard with keyboard and mouse but also kick it back with a pad sometimes. I know TV's don't have the best response times and I do enjoy a FPS from time to time my reactions aren't good enough to make use of OMG 1 MS response times or 2 billion Hz refresh rates.

Now... My pc is pretty capable but I know 4k is a mistress. If I had an old game that won't run in 4K or is struggling to hit FPS can I knock the Res down to 1440p without major graphical issues or huge black bars?

I would love a 1440p g sync monitor but considering the price and wobbly quality of monitors nowadays a TV seems a better way to go. Plus I'm sitting about 2 metres away from my screen now.

Thanks everyone.

Just to follow up, bought a TV yesterday and 1440p works a treat. Tried a few games in 4k whilst it looks great, 1440p isn't a massive step down and considering the performance hit I'll stay at that Res.

It looks WAY better than my old 1080p screen even with scaling.
