How good would be running 2 HD 6770 cards?

i have a budget of £670 to buy a new pc

and i can get one build with 2 of these cards in for £668

would i be able to max out most games? like SWTOR?

Thank you
Rob

Probably would be a good to run two 6770's but I recommend just getting one single card like the 560 ti or 6950 2gb so it's future proof, 1gb of VRAM is a bit risky with SWTOR, What resolution do you game at? :D

i game at 1920x1080

Then you will be relying completely on AMD to make your games work at decent levels.

I too did something very similar to what you have planned. I took two 5770s @ £130 each on release and ran them at 1080p.

And when they were up they were up, and when they were down they were down.

And it was a problem. Mostly because one of those cards is not enough for high res 1080p gaming alone. Sadly, there will be many times where they will be going it alone.

Now if you were going to get two 6950s or 6970s it would make more sense. Mostly because then if you had a software issue (drivers, profiles, game patches, game not supporting it etc) you could simply disable one and fall back onto the other.

In your case though (much like mine was) it will be all or nothing. And you usually end up having to accept nothing.

1GB cards will manage fine at 1080, the majority of the time anyway. BF3 excluded obviously.

With the gpu's that he's looking at, with a complete system budget of £670, you probably won't be whacking on 4x or 8x aa anyway.

Best bet would be a Radeon 6850 / 6870, or a Nvidia Gtx 460 / 560 / 560 Ti.

If it really had to be a 2gb card, the the Zotac 560 is probably your best bet at £150 :

Or the 2GB Sapphire 6850 at £138 :
