I'm considering upgrading my aging 22" Dell to the U3011. My rig has 1.5gb GTX580s in SLI, however I am reading that 1.5gb is not enough and that I should have at least 2gb and preferably 3gb.

The monitor will be used for browsing, some photo work and occasional gaming, e.g. Skyrim, Fallout 3 and the odd FPS here and there.

Is this monitor going to demand I have more GPU memory?

Im running a 2560x1440 atm with a 1gig 6950 (not sure how the fps will work on demanding games thou - havnt tested much besides the d3 beta).

Low memory GPU's - 1.5Gb heh.. Skyrim will run quite well even if performance drops a bit because you've been installing every high res texture mode there is it should still run great.

I'm running 1440p with a single GTX580 1.5mb no problem in gaming, as far as photo work is concerned you need no where near that amount of ram.

Just what I wanted to hear. Saves me buying new cards when I don't need them. Looking forward to dumping my 1680x1050 res :D
