Hi

I have mostly everything for my computer (pending memory that I ordered, but have spare and SSD but using an old one for boot), except my CPU Cooler hasn't come and may take another week.

Is there anything wrong with me running a 4790k on stock until this comes (I won't be overclocking on it), or is it better just waiting?

Cheers

You can run it on it fine, but as you say no overclocking. Also be sure to update the bios on the motherboard to the latest version. Early ones overvolt the CPU which can cause higher temps, something you don't want with the stock cooler.

Thanks :) hopefully be okay for a few weeks, be glad that I can use something faster then my 6 year old laptop!

I ran on stock cooler for a month or so, Adaptive under volted by 0.07v.
It still hit Thermal throttle, so it essentially wouldn't use Turbo for some workloads. This shouldn't be a problem though as it keeps itself within Intel's specs that way.

@ci_newman: I'd get an Aidos or something... much less noise!
