Running a OS without a hard drive?

Well i was going to run the linux off a usb then have another usb for installing the program as i am going to everything else portable eg chrome and google docs.
Will that work or?

Sounds like a bit of effert just to save a few £ on a hard drive but if you can live with only using portable apps and the storage capacity of your USB sticks should be alright.

Well puppy linux comes with a browser and small office apps so thats fine. Do i need to do anything to the usb so i can install programs to it?

Not sure im not a wiz with linux always been a windows person myself. I don't think it will read if its formatted NTFS as i think thats a windows only format, so you will likely need to format as fat32. Im sure someone can confirm/correct me on that.

So far puppy linux is fine but every so often the internet keeps dropping out and a reboot is needed to get it back. So i am thinking of pulling the 160gb hdd from my netbook and sticking it in the toshiba.

Can't imagine why you did not do this as soon as you established that the laptop WAS indeed working OK instead of buggering about for ages
