Running a *.run file

How do I do this?

I have downloaded Virtual Box for all distrubtions and have received the file labelled : VirtualBox-2.2.2-46594-Linux_amd64.run.

What do I do with this in Win Vista 64?

I got "hosts" confused - I went to the Linux page thinking it referred to the fact that I wanted the program to run Linux distros in it. Not that the virtualisation runs itself..

My friend did that the other day with OpenOffice. Downloaded the mac version by mistake and was getting rather annoyed at how it wouldn't install

I'm getting a strange error in virtual box now - I have loaded up an Ubuntu 8.04.iso distro onto it. It seemed to crash or hang weirdly, and I just about managed to shut it down. Now when I try to load it up it results in this error :
