i am used to usinh ghost in a dos environment at work to make machine images, with that i knew what i was getting, i knew what state the restored image will be at if i need to restore etc.

with apps like acronis, they can make a full disk image whilst you're using it, never really tried it as i've been used to the ghost way of doing things..

for example, when it runs the backup and i'm in firefox and playing a game, how does it save the state? (i assume it won't restore the image with ff open and the game running!)

also, what if the backup starts then before it finishes, i save a file to the desktop, is it clever enough to know to save that new file as well?

i normally leave everything on open my pc and sleep/hibernate when needed or have a download going on.

but say i schedule a job for the middle of the night, at that point it's going to power itself on or start the backup job if its already on --what happens there?
