Hi,
I have 2 PCs, 1 is mine the other is my business PC which has an ecommerce app which checks for orders at a set time say 20 mins.

I want to get rid of the business PC and put the HDD in my PC but add a separate XP account which will allow the app to run whilst I am logged in with a separate XP account on the same PC. Can this be done?

yes, i always got stuff running and if a family member wants to use the computer they switch user and log into their account.

do you mean run 2 copies of xp at the same time in one pc? can't be done..

you could just create a new user account and switch between them on your pc..
control panel, users accounts

add a new one, then you can Winkey + L between the accounts!

I haven't tried it yet. The software is Actinic Business, I don't want it running on my main account as I always get someone using my PC.
If I take the HDD out of the other PC - its just got Actinic installed on it, do I need to reinstall actinic for windows to recognise it (for any reason) or do I just install the disk into this pc?

personally if it was a business app id be wary of letting other people using it especially if its important to you but seeing as you seem to be running it from home im not sure at the level of importance it is

YES you will need to reinstall it for windows to recognise the program.

Do you need to access information regualy from the software? or does it just run silently in the background? if it runs in the background then set it up to run as a system service then nomatter who uses the computer it will always be running.

If you need to access it regualy then the best option i can think of is a dedicated computer running headless in a cupbord that you could VNC or RD into to get things from it.

P.S. looking at the home page of that software i would set it up on another computer running in a cupboard so no one can mess with it.
