Hi guys, I've recently started running to train for a fitness test that was earlier this week. I must say that running is something I never in my wildest dreams thought I would ever do. 18 months ago I weighed in at 27st 7lb (now 15st 6lb) and now I'm really enjoying putting on my running shoes and just going for a nice run.

The other day I completed my longest run to date and I feel absolutely fantastic for it, I could've easily gone further which is an amazing feeling.

When someone loses the amount of weight that I did they are unfortunately will be lumbered with excess skin/flabby bits. I was wondering if anyone else here has some experience and hopefully advice with running and dealing with excess skin after big weight loss?

Don't have any advice but thought I'd say that that's a fantastic effort! I dropped from 16 or so to 12.5, which was difficult enough, so god knows how hard it was to drop that amount. Keep it up!

Following a similar weight loss a few years ago (from 330lb to 165lb) I also found myself with loose skin, especially around the chest and gut. I have been wearing compression base layers in order to keep the jiggling at a minimum while exercising. It also has the added bonus of preventing chaffing, which spares me the grief of bleeding nipples that blights many runners. My current favourite is the Under Armour heat gear compression top.

I've not really had too much riding up of any of the base layers I've tried - the Canterbury and Under Armour ones are long enough that they drop below my hips, so I can tuck them into my boxers. I tend to follow the sizing guides so that I don't end up with excessive compression; these base layers are not supposed to be so tight that they act like a girdle.
