Am organising my internet cables around the house, as just bought son a laptop. At the mo my virgin internet box and router are on the other side of the room down stairs with very short cable from the white wall box to the intenet box and tv. i was thinking of taking the internet box off that run and just have the v+ box running off it and moving the boxs to the second line thats just been put in for the gaming room. At the mo ive got three pcs one laptop running off very long lines of ethernet cables 30m. but i was thinking of putting the internet box and router next to the gaming rig and having the blue cable running in to it and having all other pc running of long cables as there only used for internet. does it make a diffrents on how long the cables are. in turms to playing online games.

For network (RJ45) or are you talking about the coax cable coming into your house?

For the network cables it wont matter but I believe there is different cables used for the coax.

For coax make sure it is the right sort and well terminated.

If it were me I would just leave the modem next to the point on the wall where the VM coax comes into your home and then use a single long Ethernet cable to go from the modem into the router.

Cat5 is much more flexible and easier to route around corners etc. than coax is IMO :)
