hi

i received my order of

bloodrage x58 mobo

core i7 2.66

6 gig corsair ram

arctic cooling frezzer pro

i started the pc for the first time with the side panel off and noticed the cpu fan wasnt running ( it briefly flickers into life when you first start up )

could the fan be borked or am i missing something . the wierd thing is im playing fallout 3 and running the heaven benchmark and it seems fine temps never went over 71 according to coretemp . id like it sorting so i can see how far it will o/clock with this little cooler .

cheers

If you've got another 4-pin fan, jack it into the cpu fan connection. Or, link up the cpu fan to a molex/PCI-E splitter - either could tell you if it's the board connection or the fan itself.

Glad to help. Weird about the Arctic though, and even weirder about the processor peeking over the 70 mark wityhout a working cooler. I'm not a whizz with this sort of stuff, but don't you need a cooler for your CPU? I always asumed it was one of those essentials you couldn't do without. Unless it's running at auto-reduced levels, does the fan actually stop spinning after the initial boot? If so, RMA that shizzle.

it'll run quite happily under minimum load with a heatsink installed and even under moderate load as long as you've got sufficient case airflow.

Wouldn't like to see what tems it might reach once it had warmed the chunk of heatsink up mind....

hi

i was playing fallout 3 for about 3 hours and every thing was fine . i think with a bigger cooler it would be even cooler ( clever i am )

cheers
