Running different versions of ram

I have a Corsair XMS DDR3 1600mhz kit of 3x2gb (version 9.1) and was considering picking up another kit but .... this kit is version 2.3.... would that be an issue / problem ?

It may work and it may not. The only way to know for sure is to install it and test. It's best avoided if possible.
