Hi all,

We don't have a sky dish as such. We're on a new estate and have a direct fibre connection which splits off into the relevant connections throughout the home.

It looks like this:

We have a conservatory now and want to put a sat port out there. Would we have to connect into the above box or can we take the feed from another connection or does that not work with sat, like it does with aerial?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Sat feeds cannot be split like cable and terrestrial aerials can, so if that box is where the feed from the dish comes into, you'll have to run a cable from it. I've not seen a box like that before though admittedly.

You can't split sat feeds like you can do with an aerial. If you could, Sky would have been doing it for years lol. You will need to run a feed from that box to the tv in question.

So your whole estate shares a satellite antenna? That box you've got receives a signal from the fibre cable and converts it to RF, so if there is a satellite dish on the other end of the fibre then yes you can plug a box into it.
