Hey, i remember reading a thread a few weeks back on OcUk and it was about some guy buying a new system, but thats a diffrent story. Well he said he was going to buy 8Gb of RAM, and some guy hinted the fact that he should install a game onto his RAM instead of HDD or something..

I was wondering if :
  • A) Its possible
  • B) How is it done
  • C) What are the Pros and Cons

Thanks in advance

Ben

P.S If this isnt possible and i sound crazy someone let me know :D

well its impos to install a game directly on to the ram as once the pc shuts off its lost. you can however make a ram disk that you can hard link files to. I asked this exact thing the other day. lemme dig up a link for you!

If you have enough you can install a game directly to ram and have the ramdisk software save the image ( most ramdisk solutions I have tried will do this ) and reload it automatically when the pc restarts ;)

Well you would need a 64bit OS for a start to be able to reference that much memory... just throwing that in to make sure you are aware of it before you even start trying to do this.
