This thread has caused me to ask to question.

I, like the OP of the other thread, am interested in getting a TV card that uses the PCI-E x 1 slot on my motherboard. The thing is, my graphics card is covering almost all of the PCI-E x 1 slot leaving me unable to get the tv card in.

I've heard somewhere that it's possible to run your graphics card in the other PCI-E x 16 on the SLI motherboard. This would then leave the PCI-E x 1 slot free for the TV card.

Is this true and how would i go about it?

I remember putting my 7800GTX into my motherboard thinking it didn't matter which slot I put it in, then nothing showed up on the monitor. Switched slots and all is fine.

I expect you can do this, but I'm pretty sure it won't work straight off. I had the GIGBABYTE K8N-SLI btw (awful board).

It'll run at 8x speed in the bottom slot but yes it'll work. You won't see a perfomance hit to be frank. I have my graphics card sat in the bottom slot on my Ultra-D

Why not put it in the tv card in the second pci-e 16x slot and leave the gtx in the main slot?

Or have i not understood something?
