Running in dual channel?

I've just upgraded to socket 939 and installed: Mushkin 2GB DDR XP4000 Extreme Performance Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB).

I've never used dual channel memory before so I'm a bit clueless to be honest.

Anything I need do to get this running in dual channel or will it run in dual channel by default?

I've had a quick look in the BIOS and I can't see anything...

might need to know what mobo u are using but it should be running dual channel by default, just make sure they are spaced apart by a vacant dimm slot ( of your 4 ram slots u must ocuppy 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 for dual channel to enable.

My motherboard is an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum nForce4 Ultra.

I've got the two sticks in DIMM slots 1 and 2 at the moment, I'll change them now.

Try two and four motherboards can be like that sometimes, especially the DFI ones. As far as I know ** mobo should run it ok. Have u modified the bios at all or is the ram running at DDR400?

I haven't changed the BIOS at all apart from the boot sequence.

According to the manual I can use dual channel memory in slots 1 and 2

Put them in slots 2 and 4, crashed again :/

EDIT: Just downloaded and installed CPU-Z. According to the memory section in CPU-Z with my memory in slots 1 and 2, it is running in dual channel.

If you look in the BIOS there is an option to disable Full Screen boot logo (or similar)

Once disabled it will show the memory timings and that you are in dual channel at each boot

Not all motherboards require slots 1+3/2+4 to be filled for dual channel to work. Mine needs them to be in 1 & 2. If I put one in slot 3, the system won't boot
