running low on memory during gaming

Hey guys,

I currently have 9gb of DDR3 1333MHZ in my system. ASUS P6T has 6 slots over 2 banks.

When I run Battlefield and other games I usually get pulled out of games with windows asking to change my theme as I am low on memory. I have a single monitor with a HDMI running to my TV for when I stream footy matches.

Q1 - it my TV using up the RAM even though it is not being used.

Q-2 is my speed of RAM causing me a problem?

I understand that 9gb should more than suffice for gaming.

Thanks

Can we see your other specs please?

it might be that you are running out of Vram, not Ram. Meaning your GFX card.

If you have 9gb, are you using some kind of old 1gb modules in there? usually it goes 2, 4, 8.

Thanks for the reply mate Specs below.

Core i7 920 OC'd to 3.88ghz Liquid Cooled (H80)
9GB OCZ Gold 1333Mhz memory (bank 1 is 2gb sticks and bank 2 is 1gb sticks both banks have 3 slots each)
GTX 670 4Gb Direct CUII
Asus P6T Mobo

being a 4gb GFX card, i don't think VRAM is the issue here

Yeah definately not the Vram. Something is weird here, it shouldn't take that much ram..

Maybe run a memtest. And wait for better suggestions from others, sorry :)

Edit: OH, is you windows 64bit?

Yes 64bit.. ran Memtest86 when i did the OC.. no errors

edit - OC done 2-3 weeks ago

oh, and I don't have a load of things running in the background either when gaming.. so that part is ruled out too :)
