Right, heres the story so far:
I built the computer just over 2 years ago and it worked superbly.
Here are the specs from then:
Motherboard:
Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe/Wi-Fi AMD 790FX (Socket AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2.
CPU:
AMD Phenom Quad Core 9600 Black Edition.
CPU Cooling:
Asus Silent Knight II CPU Cooler.
Memory:
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB)
Hard Drive:
Western Digital Caviar GP/Green Power 1TB SATA-II 16MB Cache.
Graphics Card:
Asus GeForce 9800 GX2 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI.
Optical Drives:
2 x Plextor PX800A 18x DVD±RW IDE Dual Layer ReWriters.
PSU:
Coolermaster Real Power 1000w Modular Power Supply.
Case:
Coolermaster Stacker 830 Evolution - Nvidia Special Edition.
Running:
Windows Vista Ultimate 64.
Fast Forward to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 RC which I decided to install with the intent of purchasing the full release version. Installation went well and everything appeared to work just fine.
Fast Forward again to the Full Retail Release of Windows 7 Ultimate 64, I decided to wait untill the Windows 7 RC actually ran out. But Unfortunately due to severe illness I was in hospital for months. I eventually got out on New Years Eve and purchased the Full Retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate.
Installation seemed to go well and all worked just fine and dandy...... for a few hours! then decided to freeze so I restarted, it got to the 'Starting Windows' floating Orb screen and froze there, so restarted again and got the same thing so decided to reinstall Windows, installed ok but then froze again! So at this point I'm Effin' & Blindin' at it, threatening to trow it out the window! lol.
I then decided to work my way through the hardware, I wanted More RAM and a Secondary HDD anyway so I ordered another 4GB of the same RAM and a second 1TB WD Caviar HDD but this time it was the 'Black' version as the Green version wasn't available at the time.
I took the original RAM out and installed the new RAM, powered up but the same thing happened, it just froze. I then reinstalled the old RAM aswell as the new and tried again to no avail. Then I unpluged the Original HDD, installed the new one and installed Windows on that, installation went ok and I was able to get into windows but as soon as I went to do anything it froze again! but when it froze the screen went a crazy Black and Green pattern so I thought it could be the Graphics Card, sent it back as it was still under warranty but being ASUS the RMA took Forever! I eventually ended up with a Refund and buying the ASUS GeForce GTX480, installed it, powered up, no more crazy green and black pattern but still froze!, restarted and it starting doing the original thing of freezing before even getting to Windows.
Looking through the BIOS menu it wasn't detecting either of the Hard Drives! So I thought it's gotta be the Motherboard! so sent that off as it was still under warranty and being ASUS again it took Forever and they sent me back a replacement but it was an AM3 Socket Motherboard
so was useless to me, sent that back with a note kinda suggesting how annoyed I was. I received and apology and a new ASUS M4N82 Deluxe only 3 days later! (it's supprising how quick they can work if they screw up/you have a go at them!). Installed everything on the new Board, booted into Windows fine, got my new Product Code for Windows as it was registered to the old Board so it thought Windows wasn't Genuine, got that sorted, used the Internet, installed a few New Games I had laying around for months that I hadn't been able to install yet, it all worked Great! I shut it down before I went to sleep last night, finally happy it was working!
Went to power it up this morning and it started Freezing before Windows again! went into the BIOS Menu and it wasn't detecting either of my Hard Drives Again! Tripple checked all connections and they were all fine. Now I am here, past the point of anoyance and just staring at it!
Any Ideas bar the use of a Baseball Bat Greatly Appreciated.
Thanks!
