Running PHP on server?

Hi,

I'm trying to run some php on the server. It's a basic thing really, probably something isn't set up right in my IE? Anyway, you can see what i'm trying to do by clicking here

If you scroll down slightly to quick start and see the installer link that goes to a php file in the installer directory. When I click this link IE just asks if i'd like to open it or save it. I just want to run it!!! :mad:

What am I doing wrong here?

I'd guess Nildram don't enable PHP on their webspace

I have proper web space too, I'll go have a look in the admin page! Thanks for the pointer.

i'd be very surprised if you get php and mysql with webspace provided by your isp. unless you're paying extra for the hosting?

I have webspace with Register1.com, I'm unable to see a php bit in the admin page though... Got SQL etc but no mention of PHP.

It'll be enabled by default...make sure the file extension is .php

Go to the 'Services' tab and click on the 'Actions' button by MySQL.

Thanks, I went to the services tab and created a database called gallery2, if I go to the index.php bit

It goes on some crazy loop. I reconise the .html files, they're from my main website. :confused:

copy and paste to a file, name it phpinfo.php. Upload it.

^^as above. then when you access it in a browser, you should get a page like this....

although your host might only support version 4.x don't worry about that.

well there you go. php is working. now you just need to get to grips with this package you're installing.

edit: i just downloaded gallery2 and it was a doddle to install. just check the readme (i guess you already have

)

yeah, I just tried to click the index.php in the folder and it still goes in to that infinite loop. bah.

What could be interrupting the .php? black.html is part of my main website www.henleyb.com so no idea how it's getting called up in the gallery folder??
