as youve probably seen from my other two threads, i had to quickly install something to replace microshaft security essentials, which was getting its knickers in a twist and cutting out. i now have avast anti virus and microshaft security essentials running at the same time. will this cause any problems?

(the versions are whatever versions are linked in the stickied free stuff thread)

Generally, Yes they will conflict. However if its a broken installation then it most likely isn't even running and therefore shouldn't cause any problems.

Have you tried uninstalling it?

nah, havent bothered trying to uninstall it. i figured it was working now so i'd leave it alone

Typically you'll see them squabbling over files as they are read or written leading to significant disk access performance drops.

I would bin one of them, generally not a good idea. Even if youre not having probs one of them is needlessly using up background resources.

Just out of interest: what was the problem with MSE? Just askin cuz Ive been v happy with its performance :) The only drag was that updates thru MSE itself are very slow. But using the WIndows update its really fast.
