can i run windows 7 on an old msi 7173 board in a maxdata computer

i read that msi updated bios cant be used on oem boards

is this correct an where can i get a bios update now maxdata have ceased trading...

If so then W7 should run on that ok, just don't expect it to be very quick, drivers might be an issue also.

Windows7 should pick up most of the drivers but I wouldn't count on it picking all of
them up to be honest. As andy_mk3 said it will be a bit slow.

Should be fine, try win 7 on a spare HDD (even a small one).

As for speed, win7 runs fine on my amd athlon 1900+ a bit slow but nothing horrifically bad!
