Hey All,
After messing around with Ubuntu 8.10 I ended up going back to 8.04.01 as there is no hardware support for my Radeon Mobility 9600 graphics adapter, lots of people having issues.
Anyway the Compaq NC6000 laptop is now running nice but for me to continue using this there are a couple of windows apps I need to get running.
* Lotus Notes
* Solaris ECU mapping software (not solaris OS from SUN)
Both apps require access to the network interfaces, the ECU software doesnt use ip but its own protocol and connection engine.
I see my options as follows :-
* WinXP Virtual Machine, not sure which virtual software to go for, looks like VirtualBox, Parallels and KVM are the main choices. Going this route I would use one of the small XP distributions like MicroXP or TinyXP.
* Wine, I have not actually tried this before but it looks ok.
Ideally I would like to be able to run the apps seperate on the desktop, ie not inside a VM, I have heard this is possible with certain VM software but I have no idea which one.
Any ideas?
