Am I missing something or does he actually do anything to champion the poor and underprivileged ?

I watched him recently getting interviewed in Downing Street where he was on about high rents and unscrupulous landlords only to be challenged and he admitted he rents despite his wealth.

He accused Nigel Farage of being a 'Pound shop Enoch Powell' on QT yet when challenged by an audience member about entering politics, he declined saying he'd be 'frightened to become one if them.'

All I seem to hear is do as I say not as I do champagne socialism from him.

Any fans out there ?

He does more than the people who are in here slating him.

An hour of his time is worth more than an hour of my time. He could earn thousands doing a chat show or something for 1 hour. Instead if he spends that 1hr bringing someones campaign to attention, then hes sacrificed more than I have.

Everyone is saying he doesnt actually do anything. What do you suggest he does? Would you like him to start a revolution? or become an MP? what exactly would he need to do for people to give him a break?

I see the public vote him a hypocrite too.

I'd like him to practice what he preaches and not jump on every populist bandwagon. I might then take him seriously.

That is why I like Bill Gates. He's fabulously wealthy yet donates vast sums to real causes and does it without the media whore aspect.

Ricky Tomlinson - made a lot of money but nigh on gave his first million away to the needy. Another bloke I have time for.

Brand though ? All talk. No action.

Here's his reply...

To summerise, he basically implies the only reason he was criticised was because the woman was mentally-ill

Baffle with bull extretia in the hope the bored housewives who love him might not click that he's a nauseating, patronising hypocrite who will lecture on poverty and equality if you pay him to.

Quite what in the blue **** Russell Brand has in common with people who struggle in life while he broadcasts from ivory towers and sits in VIP areas at austerity marches is above me.

Also, perhaps he should spend a million a year more than he makes so he can learn the difference between austerity and living within your means.

Brand is an epic Pratt.

No I just believe people need to inject some critical thinking into their heads.

Also we see countless posts here how the media are biased and not to believe everything they say, when it is to do with Russell brand instantly apparently that is all forgotten....

The crowd could worship him ..... it makes no odds to my distaste for him and champagne socialism.

lol

Considering he is a millionaire many many times over it's fair to say he lives a VERY humble existence.
His house is hardly an extravagant mansion and he doesn't even own a car let alone have a collection of sports-cars, super-bikes, yachts ..etc!! (ALL of which he could easily afford)

He has dedicated a HUGE amount of both his time and money to helping people far less fortunate than himself and has helped inspire people to be more loving and compassionate!!
As a matter of fact I'm off to West Africa next month to see if I can help people who I feel have been dealt a rough hand in life, Russell Brand help inspire me to get off my ass and do this so before you get all cynical and judgmental maybe you should ask yourself who YOU have inspired recently??

Good for you, seriously. If Russell Brand is your motivation then, again, good for you although I personally will never understand why.

I'm afraid I'm past the point of no return with regards to the judgmental and cynical aspects in terms of Russell Brand. He was nails down a blackboard as a 'comedian' but as a knock off Wolfie Smith he is sliding down a razor blade using ones balls as brakes, to me anyway. I'm sure there are celebs and others you dislike ?

As for who I've motivated, I don't pretend to reach the audience that Brand does but I've helped turn around a young lads life who was sinking into petty crime. He's now going for his first NCO attempt in the army. I've helped many people off heroin and into rehab who have then gone onto productive lives and I've helped many people with mental health issues turn themselves around - one in particular makes me smile as the last time I saw the result of her self harming, she almost bled out from an arterial bleed. I also support a local boxing club in the area I work and donate money and equipment where I can. A young lad who was borderline going down the wrong path has parents without two tenners to rub together and he now wears my old Adidas boxing boots that I gave him and he's unbeaten in 10 amateur fights. I'm claiming motivation from me on that one. :)

I feel like a bit of a braggart now which isn't my thing but you asked so I've said. I don't usually bang on about such things unlike Russell Brand. I just get on with it.

Good luck in West Africa.
