Hi guys,
I'm on London 1.

I'm really struggling to make any real start, I get killed constantly. Teamed up with one guy but he's now offline and I feel like I'm making zero progress.

Waiting for my mic to turn up so perhaps I can make some more allies.

Anyone have any tips for not getting slapped about every two seconds, and also to find stone?

there is a big rust thread.here https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18521391&page=68

we are a few weeks in from a clean wipe so many people will be geared up.best just try not to get frustrated too much.expect you will get done over by geared people.

if you new id probably suggest you watch a few youtube vids.play on a smaller population server.

me and my lot are on East midlands noobs server.its a busy server and very frantic but some are friendly and not KOS 24/7 :p

key is too get the basics quick.like a axe pickaxe and get some kind of basic build with a sleeping bag in.so you can respawn.remember to build a tool cupboard this stops people building or accessing your property.

Thanks mate.

I'm really enjoying it so far. It's a little frustrating when every time I go out to gather rescources some geared up guy smashes me, but it's something I just need to get my head around I guess.

It's sadly satisfying when I finally have a wooded base with a lock on the door and one mate kipping in there :D

the first part of rust at the start especially if you get killed can be infuriating.thing is when you get your little shack together it also feels great :D

Build another base in a quite part of the map (usleful to have more than one anyway), away from rad towns. You will find it easier to farm wood and stone, but you then have a harder time getting to and from a rad town and thus better gear, that's the trade off. I have gone many wipe cycles since the components system, just relying on revolvers, satchel charges and P2's because I couldn't be bothered to go to rad town because I lived to far away. If your in small wooden base I for one would burning it down! Get that sheet metal of stone asap!

If your solo or in a small team, look for lower pop servers, easier, I play solo or with a friend, so don't look for more than 70 players servers. Some Community and modded wipe weekly with every update so there only a day old, you could always try one of them. Check the larger main rust thread, I recently posted my way of getting started as someone asked for tips.

Good luck!

Thrown a tantrum more than a few times after getting a few thousand wood together along with tools and a bow, only to be killed before I had chance to put a bag down or build a starter shack!

Ive just been gifted Rust and as a DayZ, H1Z1 and Miscreated vet... im intrigued but also concerned as it does sound (not just from here) that its not so noob friendly / solo friendly.

Im trying to get friends in from those other games, but its either Rust has a bad name or is not comparable to the above.

Be interested in more thoughts from those on here and following how the OP gets on :)

I have 40hrs in Miscreated and 500hrs in DayZ, not played H1Z1, 995hrs in Rust, Rust is noob friendly and solo friendly, if you choose the right server, it's different to those other games as its currently very pvp based, there is more pve planned, if you go on high pop vanilla server as a noob and solo your going to hate it if you join half way through a wipe. Join a low pop (20ish) modded server at the start of a wipe cycle, ask questions in chat and enjoy. The game is absolutely brilliant and is getting better and better every thrurssay. You will get better every wipe, you will learn from your mistakes and build better bases each time.

The whole wipe aspect of rust is what I don't like about it.

Though I understand why it's needed I don't like to spend x amount of time constructing something to have it taken from me to clean the server. They should just be cleaning inactive players stuff IMHO

That will be happening in time, the devs are working on ways to clean up the server currently it's Decay, if a door hasn't been opened in 5(?) days the base and everything inside vanishes to clean up the map and aids server performance. I can't wait for the days of wipe cycles are a thing of the past but it also raises some questions, like if a large clan are active all the time, what's to stop them build a base so big that it takes up too much map space, currently the wipe cycles prevent that, at the moment I'm only playing on 1 week wipe cycle servers as I can't get on when I'm on a early shift. The way the game developing I have every faith in facepunch to make the right decisions, it's shaping beautifully
