Hi guys,

Cleaning my car today, and I noticed this on the roof. It's tiny and I only noticed it because I was close to the paint otherwise you'd never see it.

I feel like I'm maybe worrying over nothing but it doesn't feel like a scratch, in fact you can't feel anything so not quite sure what's caused it, but I'm worried about it getting worse.

Could something like this get bigger over time? And what would you guys do in terms of fixing it or protecting it? If it's nothing to worry about, I'd still like to fix it as it will bug me now I know it's there

A guy who lives near me who has an XF as well said he had something similar repaired under Jaguars corrosion warranty but it seems far too minor for it them to be concerned about it?

Thanks guys

Can you not feel it *at all*? It looks like some sort of airborne debris that's settled on your car and rusted.

I had a quick run over with my finger then tried using my nail, but I really couldn't feel anything at all. Paint feels smooth

I don't know about Jaguar but generally corrosion warranties wouldn't typically repair something like that as its likely been caused from a stone chip or something like that and not from a design or manufacturing fault.

The fact you can't feel is a little odd, has it broken through the paint or is it debris that is embedded in the clear coat that perhaps a clay bar could shift?

Bit of autoglym tar and glue and claying after but if not then... dunno about that. Even a bit of polish might lift it if you have some handy.

Then if the lacquer is intact the warranty claim should be straight forward. I wouldn't touch it personally until they look at it. I would want it fixing as if it starts to deteriorate it would spread.

I'm going to go in during the week and get them to take a look.

Out of interest, if they did fix it under the corrosion warranty, what would that involve? Just touching up that tiny area? Or would they have to do a bit more?
