Rusty things :(

Hey guys and gals got a bit of a predicament.
I've got myself a motorbike and has started to get some rust on it's exhaust. It started appearing after I went out on it in snow (not a good idea anyway) and the grit salt got on it.
I cleaned it up using some crazy product my uncle lent me and well its come back.
I really want the rust out but I know its practically cancer for metal.

It's a crome exhaust which might make things difficult.

I found this rust remover "Linky" and I didnt know if that would work.

Any help would be very help me out. The guy at halfords said I can't do anything.

It's a Yamaha SR125. I suppose it could be a jap part as the previous owner did say he replaced the exhaust

Can't I just use some rust remover to get rid of the rust, then spray paint the exhaust with high temprature spray to lock out the rust and also giving the exhaust a nice finish?
