RWGmobile - Free monthly usage for light users.

I'm still using them but will be switching soon. I have a £2 month deal on a backup phone but quite often when called callers get a message saying the number is not available but when calling a few times it eventually connects.

I've sent 2 requests to Support a month ago and again 5 days ago and they haven't replied. They never replied to 2 requests around a year ago asking for clarification on the monthly £2 deal.

They appear to have stopped caring.

That mirrors what people are experiencing on Trustpilot.

Some could only get a response by contacting their carrier Now Mobile to resolve issues.

I just phoned their support and was apparently connected to a non-english speaker in India. I could understand about 1 word in 20.

When I phoned again I got connected either to a Canadian or an American who assured me my phone settings were wrong and I should not have them set to Auto Connect to 5G/4G/3G/2G but instead it should be set to 2G only.

When I mentioned that as part of the troubleshooting I'd tried the SIM in other phones and had exactly the same connection problems he then said that's the reason why I'm having problems as changing the phones 'confuses' (his word) the SIM.

Can anyone suggest another provider. It's a backup number but 2 friends I've lost touch with who are in the USA only have this number so I'd like to keep it just in case.

I currently pay £2 a month for 100 mins, 100 SMS and 750MB but I rarely use any of it. I switched from PAYG to this contract so that there was no risk of losing the number.

Someone has managed to port my number from RWG to another network and tried logging into my bank account. Luckily their security measures kicked in and failed (I hope). Contacted RWG support and they were useless telling me I needed to contact the new supplier and deal with them.

New supplier has no telephone support, only online forums. I've tried signing up to a new account for support purposes but I don't get the verification code. I can ony guess they're using my email as a login username but using another email address for comms.

I had issues with my previous PAYG RWG sim later in 2025. It just stopped working (it worked well for probably > a year up to that point). I think they switched network providers and basically didn’t inform their customers.
ChatGPT confirmed this at the time, and mentioned lots of complaints on Reddit and Trustpilot.

I ordered another low cost top up on a new sim, transferred my number and it’s been fine since. The new sim was properly provisioned.

I have only just found out about the previously available free monthly scheme here:

Nearly free anyway.

I’m guessing that’s over now, and not coming back?

I imagine it was designed to attract lots of new customers to RWG.

They could offer a £1 p/m type deal offering the same thing, I’d probably go for that. But that would probably make it the cheapest mob. contract in the UK.
