Hey guys,

I got the rx 470 earlier this month from OCUK and there's something I've started to notice. And that's the card fan speed will randomly speed up from 0RPM to 1800RPM+ for what seems to be no reason at all.

This lasts for about 8-30 seconds and occurs "frequently" while the pc is idle or when I'm just browsing.

Any ideas to why this is happening?

keep an eye on your system task monitor and see if something is running at higher load than normal when the fans spin up.

Try removing drivers completely with DDU and then reinstall.

Thanks for the quick response. Judging from the task manager there doesn't seem to be anything strange.
What I've done is lower my minimum RPM in Wattman, this way when it does speed up it isn't going to my previously higher min speed. I can still see it speed up in the graph, but its using a much lower rpm and I dont hear it doing so :)

Edit: I'll still try to see what is causing the speed up and make note of it if I do.
