RX480 for Windows 7 32 bit

Is there a known compatibility issue with the RX480 GPU and Windows 7 32 bit?

I have a new build clean install of W7 32bit and it has not detected my Sapphire RX480 Nitro+ 4GB card.

I also cannot find a 32bit driver on the AMD site.

Any help gratefully received.

Any particular reason for running the 32-bit version?

Thanks for quick reply!

Only because that's the disk I have from a previous build/install, and didn't want to shell out on another O/S.

If the 32 bit issue is definitley the cause, then I will have no choice but to move to a 64 bit o/s, but wanted to be sure before I go through the hassle for nothing.

I don't know much about the situation with OEM discs. Not sure if that would work with the key you have - might include Dell bloatware too. Might be worth a go I suppose.

It won't work plus you'll end up going through all the updates.

Download the ISO of the 64-Bit and use that.

I have tried it and the Dell product code wont allow activation, and the product key from the 32 bit disk I have is not permitted for a 64 bit install. So I am snookered.

Gonna have to shell out for an O/S now.

However, what bothers me more is that the RX480 is STILL not showing in Device Manager, even in the W7 64 bit version that I just installed.

So is there a different issue here, or will it only show in DM once I have loaded the 64 bit drivers?

You might have a microsoft basic display adapter or Standard VGA Adapter in Device Manager. Device Manager won't show the actual name of the card until the drivers are installed.

Strange that the key you have isn't permitted to activate 64-bit windows. Is it definitely the same SKU? (Home, Professional etc).

You should shell the cash for the 64-bit OS just for not researching this before shelling out for the 480. :D

You can't change from 32 to 64-bit with an OEM key from what l remember. Besides, the 32-bit OS would limit you since you should have at least 8GB of RAM to be sporting a 480 so your current OS wouldn't have been able to fully utilize your PC resources.

You will need to find Dell Windows 7 64 bit ISO but Dell no longer hosted Windows 7 image isos for all Dell laptops on their servers where Dell laptops owners entered their laptop service tag to downloaded 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 isos and created Windows 7 installation media on either DVD or USB.

https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/OSISO

I googled found somebody created Dell windows reinstallation guide hosting Dell 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 isos on google drive.

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/windows-7-sp1-iso-download/#Win7COA

The unofficial Dell Windows 7 SP2 reinstallation isos had been slipstreamed all updates to June 2016.
