I read somewhere that when they are sold on eventually, these mining cards won't be in that bad condition due to the fans always being run at a constant RPM, which is apparently better than ramping them up and down. Is there any truth to this?
Also most cards are undervolted if anything to save on energy costs.
Like for example 1070 ti mining it's common to run it at 60/70% TDP, sure it gets used 24//7 with lowish temps, but hardly beaten into ground.
Worth noting that will only affect 4GB cards.
Well if it makes you feel better there will be a surge of "lightly used" 4GB AMD cards XDOh jesus christ, that means 1070's and soon 1080's will be pushed up in price further by the miners. Really wanted to actually be able to buy one aswell.
No,it affects 4Gn and 8Gn equally. It's down to the memory subsystem and bandwidth, not the memory size. The article is misleadingWorth noting that will only affect 4GB cards.
