Rx480 prices.... mining?

i folded and got a msi 1080 gaming x plus en route now. i'll get this listed once it gets a little clean, so much for waiting on vega lol.

I read somewhere that when they are sold on eventually, these mining cards won't be in that bad condition due to the fans always being run at a constant RPM, which is apparently better than ramping them up and down. Is there any truth to this?

Also most cards are undervolted if anything to save on energy costs.

Like for example 1070 ti mining it's common to run it at 60/70% TDP, sure it gets used 24//7 with lowish temps, but hardly beaten into ground.

Yes, my 1080ti gets a harder time gaming than it does mining. Gaming temps today (hot ambient) are about 80c @ 116% TDP. Mining temp is 57c @ 65% TDP. Massive difference.

Won't impact RX cards for months, by which time ETH mining will be no more because it will have moved on to POS/POW and difficulty will be through the roof. There are other coins to mine, and while all alt coins are tied in value to BTC its unlikely to be an issue.

And anyway, all it means is that instead of a lack of one type of GPU there will probably be a lack of ALL types of GPU for gamers (which is already happening)

Worth noting that will only affect 4GB cards.

Well if it makes you feel better there will be a surge of "lightly used" 4GB AMD cards XD
No,it affects 4Gn and 8Gn equally. It's down to the memory subsystem and bandwidth, not the memory size. The article is misleading

I was just pointing out that the info you posted had already been posted two posts previously lol. It's a polite way of saying to read the thread before posting ;)
As I said I did read it. Some of the info was posted, some of it wasn't if you'd read the post and gone to the comments mentioned ;)

It's actually you that's being impolite in not responding to D.P. who had the courtesy to point out your mistake ;)

Also I'm not sure why you're trying to start an argument as it was you that posted the dodgy information in the first place ;)
