RX5700XT running on 7800X3D... what video card to replace it?

Pretty much as per the thread title... upgraded main PC and shifted the video card over.

Would prefer AMD really, and not bothered about RT as such, but happy to consider NV cards.

Needs to run quiet-ish under load, as I've a 3 fan Aorus card that doesn't make much noise through the walls of a Fractal Define 7 Compact. Definitely don't want owt louder at all.

Budget up to 800 maybe, with stretch possible for the right card.

Chuggy 4k or 1440. Haven't been massively bothered about buttery smooth performance with the current card! Should have mentioned that as well really.

EDIT: I tend to let games auto detect settings and just go with whatever they suggest!

FWIW, just grabbed a 4070 Super FE. Been very happy with it. Running at 1440p. Don't really see the point in paying huge amounts more than a 4070S/7800XT, tbh, but hey, that's just me.

12gb 70's no thank you, it's not enough now never mind next year or the year after unless sharing system ram with texture pop in/stutters is ok-I've got a 4070, talking from experience.

Either 16gb 4070ti Super for all the RTX and superior upscaling techs, or 59GRE for a lot less cash that performs not too far behind 70's in RTX heavy titles-as they'll both be running lesser RT for playable (higher)frame rates anyway.

Agree with tommybhoy - For the top end of the budget I'd go with a 4070ti Super 16GB -

Or for an AMD alternative a 7900XT (The Sapphire Nitro is a great cooler and is £799, or there's the Pulse at £739, which is what I have and is also very quiet):

But you could save yourself a couple of hundred and get the 7900GRE:

Any of those will be a HUGE upgrade from 5700XT

Card arrived Tuesday. Can confirm it’s bloody lovely really! Nice step up from 5700XT and great for the price.

Remember to get Chill set up in the suite, always a good thing when you're playing less demanding games to have the monitors max resolution fps and no more, than having hundreds of wasted FPS.

I’ll have a go tonight. Loving it so far though, even without that on (I think).
