Hi,

After a bit of research, am I right in saying if I go to a 1440p monitor with this GPU I should really only be looking for 75hz max as I wont hit much higher frame rates using this?

Or should I just stick with 1080p and get a 144hz?

Thanks for the info, I think i've narrowed it down to a couple and need to make the decision quick. To prevent any "biased" comments, what out of these options should I be getting:

1) 1920x1080 resolution with Freesync on LED backlit with 144hz and HDR at 27"
2) 1920x1080 resolution with Freesync on IPS panel with 144hz at 32"
3) 2560x1440 resolution with Freesync on TN panel with 75hz at 27"

They are all around the same price point...

Birthday coming up soon and Mrs going mental cause I haven't decided lol.

From what I can tell, 1080p gaming on Ultra with the RX580 nets you around about the 80-90FPS mark on AAA titles, thats the reason I was thinking is 144hz overkill for something that I wont be hitting 144 on.. and therefore should I just get a 75hz monitor, or 1440p with 75hz. And although I know on 1440p you will only get around 40-50FPS then at least the 75hz is there anyway.

I saw that AOC one too, but 32" seems a bit overkill for a monitor sitting right infront of you lol.

I dont mean 32" on 1440p wouldn't be good, I just mean 32" staring right at your from 3ft away lol.

The monitors I was looking at were ElectriQ ones, google it I don't want to post the website, but they had some decent specs for under £200.. and a Samsung C24FG70 for £199.

I keep wondering for the RX580 would I notice any difference having the iIyama 24.5" monitor which has 75hz as apposed to another with 144hz if playing on ultra I only get around 80-90 fps anyway. The difference is about £80 so makes you wonder if I should just stick with the 75hz.

The 27" acer 1440p 75hz does look good too, however I assume I would be playing the games at 1080p anyway..

Yeah thats the iiyama I was looking at. Why would you get tearing though as it has freesync? Would you say that monitor is definetly worth buying if I was just going to stick to 1080p?

Thanks for the reply.. guess the Iiyama is winning the 1080p battle.. unless I want to pay the extra for the acer to at least get a bit og 1440p future proofing.. only way I would lowe with that is if I got a gpu that done over 75hz on 1440p.. which wont be anytime soon.

Any idea what the freesync range is for the acer?

I seen another monitor last night (Acer Nitro VG240Y) for £119. Has 24", Freesync, 1080p, 1ms, VESA similar to the iIyama, but this Acer is a IPS too. Seemed like the best buy if you were looking to stick to 1080p so far. Only thing it didn't have was Display Port but is that really needed for 75hz? PM me if you need details.

Other than that I think the next step up is either 1080p 144hz for £159 or 1440p 75hz for £195.

Myself personally... the 1080p 144hz 27" at £159 seems to be the winner. I know its not 1440p, but at the end of the day my GPU cannot run 1440p over 60Hz and I think I would benefit more from 144hz on 1080p from what I have read.

I also know 27" is a bit larger than normal for 1080p, but again from reading reviews gaming seems to be fine, its more just text but it isn't a deal breaker bad.

I think its ok as its not a product Overclockers sell, I think the brand is the websites "own" make. The brand is "ElectriQ 27" 144hz". If you google that you will see the website, its a well known UK store.

Only thing is that it says LED Backlit, but I can't see if its a TN or VA panel (its definetly not IPS)

It said 1ms GTG, so I assumed most monitors you read that have 1ms are talking GTG.

Only thing with this monitor is I cannot find many reviews on this one, only the red curved or 4k ones.

I think I may just take your advise and jump to the Acer KG271U.. take advantage of big screen and 1440p..

Im sure for the gaming I do I wont take advantage of 144fps anyway, plus im a more eye candy gamer lol.

I think I will go for the Acer 27" 1440p Freesync monitor.. its only 75hz but if I am not playing competative gaming and would take "eye candy" over e-sports PRO performance then its prob the best option..

I had a look at that AOC 31.5" but the only downside is no VESA :(
