What a career! He will now focus on being Van Gaal's number 2.

I don't think he's been Manu quality for years but still to maintain himself at that level for so long, is almost unbelievable. Players like Lee Sharpe who I think could and should have been better than giggs must really regret not having a fraction of his footballing discipline.

Good timing, he now has more time to spend with his brothers family.

34 trophies, amazing.

and it went on for almost a decade.

Exactly. A one off is pretty much unforgivable in my eyes, but to be rifling her for nigh on 10 years is just unthinkable.

Barton might be a clown, but when he had a pop at Giggs on twitter he was right on the money.

As a footballer though, as I said above, absolutely immense. One of the greatest of all time.

If only the thread was about Ryan Giggs, the man away from football eh

Funny, I thought the thread was about Ryan Giggs full stop?

Yes it's about his retirement, but I don't think I can withhold mentioning the fact he's an arse off the pitch.

No, thread quite clearly says Ryan Giggs retires. Unless of course my eye's are deceiving me.

Not sure what his retirement has to do with his personal life if that's the case.

So the thread is about Ryan Giggs then? First thing that springs to my mind when I see Giggs is 'What a ****'.

When you do what he did, his personal life should always be mentioned along with his career, that comes with the territory with ******* your brothers missus.

I'm about the same age as Giggs, I can barely do my job with how fast I'm falling to bits with age, god knows how much it takes to look after a footballer at that age :D

So what 10 appearances are the BBC counting that that image doesnt I wonder (several times they have said 963 appearances today and since the end of the season)

Premier League: 632 (including 110 as substitute)
Division One (pre-1992): 40 (including seven as substitute)
FA Cup: 74 (including 12 as substitute)
League Cup: 41 (including six as substitute)
European Cup/Champions League: 151 (including 23 as substitute)
European Cup Winners' Cup: 1
Uefa Cup: 5
Other matches (Charity/Community Shield, European Super Cup, Fifa Club World Cup): 19 (including 3 as substitute)

and that definitely appears to add up to 963 (cant see anything obvious that exludes 10 for any reason) - doesnt even include the appearances before he got to the 1st team (which is fair enough)
