is this budget chip comparable to an i5.. would it be any good at gaming at 1080p with the right GPU

I have the 1300x paired with 1060 6gb and at 1080p performs great.. steady FPS..

I know PUBG is not a demanding game but its set on Ultra for me with no issues

They are great value, but the R3 1200 is better, and the saving can be put towards faster RAM, or slightly better graphics card. I just finished building an R3 1200, on an ASRock AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac Mini ITX board with some Corsair LPX 3000MHz RAM, managed to get 3.875GHz from the CPU with no extra volts, rock stable too. :)

I paired it with a Geforce GTX 1060 Mini (Zotac) and it's a great combination, the board was a little more expensive, but there were only a few options for ITX, if you you are going mATX then you can save £30-40. Although saying that it does include decent Wi-Fi which is worth at least £15-20.

Back on topic, it's much better value than any i5/board combo presently since you can overclock even on a board that costs £60.
